You can install a 3.5" drive in the "B:" bay, but you will want a nerd to help you do a proper job and configure the drive properly. (Needs to have driver.sys or drvparm in the config.sys file.) The drive will run as either a 360K or a 720K. You will have to put a piece of tape over the ident hole on 1.44M diskettes so the drive will treat them as 720/360K. (Ident hole is on the opposite edge of the diskette from the "write protect" slide switch.) These diskettes will also want reformatting. I think you can see why I advise the help of a DOS nerd.
