BROWN PELICAN

Brown Pelican, --- my third boat, but first in Naples, was a 26 foot, twin engine "Stamas" built vessel, moored at Naples City Dock. Sold her in 1987.

Fully rigged for cruising with full galley and head, slept four, powered with 190hp, fresh water cooled, merc-cruiser gasoline engines, used for cruising to the Florida Keys (http://florida-keys.fl.us/maps/mainmap.htm 200 nm trips) and in 1986 the Dry Tortugas (www.nps.gov/drto/ 460 nm trip), along Latitude 24.5° north, passing fifty-five feet, nearly, over the 1622 sunken treasure galleon, Atocha www.atochastory.com/ , discovered by Mel Fisher in July 1985 after a sixteen year search.

Cousin Buddy's 28 foot "Carver" is moored next to mine at now extinct Faro Blanco marina www.marinamate.com/wsf-fbr.html , Marathon, Florida Keys.

My first open water venture was to Marathon www.floridakeysnews.info/marathon.php under the watchful eye of 'old salt' Capt Glenn Roach, who later moved to Marathon and whom I would visit with my boat.
