Tyger's Diary for July 19, 1999
Grrrrrrreeeeeetings gang and welcome back! Today I thought I would tell you about Keedie. Keedie is the mother of all of my cats except for Tang. She's a tiger-striped brown and gray with some hints of orange plus a great deal of white, long fur, and resembles a Maine Coon cat, only smaller. She's now approximately 7 or 8 years old. I can't be totally certain because she was a stray. She chose me instead of me choosing her. She just started coming by my house one day back in 1992. She came talking to me, looking to be fed, and asking to be let in. She was friendly and would rub against my legs and let me pet her. So I started feeding her and letting her come in, especially when the weather was bad. She decided to have her kittens under my porch one day, which is when SnowPuff and his brother were born. Now I started putting out food for 3. I tried to learn who Keedie belonged to but nobody ever claimed her. The next year when she had her second litter of kittens, I brought her inside. After the birth, I kept all of them inside, had Keedie spayed and decided to make her my own. From that day, the 3 of them have lived inside. All are altered, so they can't breed. I found homes for the other kittens. That is, all except for SnowPuff's litter brother. He was a black striped cat with a lovely disposition, but he never would let me take him in. I could feed him, but he always ran away when I tried to touch him. One day he simply disappeared and never returned. I have always felt sad about that and wondered what happened to him. I can only assume that he must have died out there somewhere. (Never leave your cats outdoors.) But the rest have lived happily ever after. Keedie got her name by my constantly calling her kitty in a sort of baby talk. It just kind of turned itself into kee dee. And it stuck. She answers to it and thinks it's her name, but sometimes I call her mother, for obvious reasons. It was strange, because after she was spayed, SnowPuff and Misty didn't recognize her as their mother any more. I guess it must have made her smell differently. They spat at her for some time after the operation! That's all for today. Next time, I'll tell you about Tang! I'll try to update the diary every 2 days or so, if I can. By the way, my thanks to Catson for the wonderful idea about the cute caption for my cat in the bag animated graphic! I loved it so I used it! Hope you like it! See you around and have a great, meowy cat day! Your Cat-Friend, TygerStar079!
