TYGER'S DIARY FOR JULY 18, 1999
Grrrreetings everyone! Now for today's little cat story. Let me tell you something about Misty. She's a calico cat with double paws, as I'm sure I've already told you. She was born in April of 1994, whereas SnowPuff was born in March of 1993 and Keedie first came to live with me in the spring of 1992. (Tang is an old man, as he was born in 1989!) Back to Misty. I was the first human being to ever touch her. She was born in my house around 1 am the morning of April 2nd. I watched her being born. I helped dry her off. So mine were the first hands to ever hold her. When she was little, I used to call her and her 2 brothers in the litter my babies. Somehow or other, babies got turned into beebies via baby talking to them. And eventually I got to calling Misty my "lil beebe." To this day, she doesn't acknowledge Misty as her name. She thinks her name is Lil Beebe! If you call her that, she responds, while the name Misty, she ignores. So I think of her now as Misty Beebe. Misty is a very smart cat. When she and her brothers were very little, I used to keep them in a rather large cage, so they wouldn't get into things in the house that would hurt them (electrical wires, especially, as they seemed to delight in chewing on them). Misty was so smart, she learned how to spring the door of the cage open and get out! She was constantly letting herself out and we were always having to chase after her! She was also like a little monkey, always grabbing onto the bars on the top/roof of the cage and hanging from and swinging on them! What's more, she has the most unusual method of drinking from her water dish that I've ever seen. She first takes her paw and "digs" the water as if it was cat sand. Then she takes a drink. She also washes her paws in her water. She's quite unique. She's very talkative. If you speak to her, she will answer you in a variety of tones. She's one of the sweetest tempered cats I've ever had, too. You can pick her up, swing her around, hold her, bounce her like a baby, anything, and no matter what you do, she purrs. I'm very happy to have her in my family. Her 2 littermates were given away to good homes when they were old enough. SnowPuff is only her half brother. He had a different father. Who his father is, I don't know. But I did see Keedie with Misty's father in my backyard quite often just before Misty arrived. So I think I know which stray her father is. However, he's not friendly. You can put food out for him but he won't let you touch him. I no longer let Keedie live outside. She's an indoor cat now. I think it's safer and better for her health. She's also now been spayed. The same is true for all of my cats. They all live inside and they are all spayed/neutered. That's it for today. See you next time!
