Tyger's Diary Sept. 2, 1999
Today I'd like to tell you the story about Kee-Tay's broken leg. I was only about 12 years old when this happened. Being a very active and athletic child, I used to often do somersaults on my bed. I was also a very active person in my sleep. Although I'm not aware of it personally, I've been told, by other people who slept with me, how I pushed them out of bed at night (in my sleep) and such. Anyway, Kee-Tay was the cat who slept in my bed with me when I was 12. To make a long story short, I remember waking up one morning and finding her limping, favoring one paw in particular. Mom and I took her to the vet and found out her leg was broken. He put her leg in a very odd-shaped cast. I don't know if I can describe it. It wasn't like a human leg cast at all. It was kind of wide at the top and almost pointed at the bottom with a rounded tip. It had white bandages wrapped in crisscrosses all around it. She walked all around on this cast while her leg healed. It looked funny, but I'm sure it wasn't funny to her. I remember I used to love to visit this statue of a dog that we had in the park near my house. I think it's still there today. It was a statue of a labrador named T. F. Hoppin (anyone know who this is? if you do, please email me. I've always wondered about him!). I used to love having my picture taken with this statue. While Kee-Tay's leg was in the cast, I remember we went to the statue and took some pictures of me holding Kee-Tay and standing beside the statue. I still have these strange old black and white snapshots of Kee-Tay in her cast. In time, of course, her leg completely healed and the cast came off. But after that, I was afraid to sleep with my pets for a long time, for fear of accidently hurting them in my sleep. Thankfully, that doesn't happen any more nowadays (in fact, it never happened again after Kee-Tay). I'm a much quieter sleeper. Good thing, too, because SnowPuff loves to sleep under my blankets with me! But he has never been injured, happily! This was the only time any of my pets ever had a broken bone. That's my story for today. See you next time everyone and keep purring! TygerStar079
