Tyger's Diary Aug. 21, 1999
Grrrreetings gang! Sorry to have taken so long to get an update to you. I've been super busy lately. Today I'm going to tell you about Sandy. Sandy was a sandy-colored striped tabby male, as his name implies. He was Brighteyes' mate when she had her litter of kittens in California, which I told you about not too long ago. Sandy wasn't my cat. He belonged to the Newton family. But I used to visit him every day after school. I remember well walking home from school, coming up the driveway to the Newtons' back porch area. And there he would be, lazing in the sun on top of the porch deck, which was up high overlooking the town of Whittier and had a lovely view. I'd walk up to him saying, "Saaannnndeeee!" He'd meow to me and when I got close to stroke his fur, he'd rub on my hands. He was always happy to see me, almost as if he was my cat. He'd be so friendly and sweet and just purr away! I have always had such a raport with cats, it seems. Anyway, he was a joyous site to come home from school to. Mrs. Newton was usually out there, too, and always welcomed me and gave me cookies and milk. She was so nice. We were good friends. She'd save up newspaper articles and pictures about cats and give them to me. Even after I moved away, we kept in touch by mail and she'd continue to mail me the cat newspaper clippings. Oh, Sandy had a beautiful son named Golden Boy, who also belonged to the Newtons. He was a semi-long hair orange striped tabby male with really fluffy fur and golden eyes. When I visited the Newtons on a California vacation trip about 10 years later, I found, to my great delight, that Golden Boy was still alive and well and still a lovely cat! Just a few happy memories from years gone by to share with you. Have a nice weekend everyone and keep purring! Your Friend Always,
TygerStar
