THE WEEKLY HOWL
JANUARY 25, 2000
Howly day everyone! Winter is here at last! The snow is on the ground, there's ice in the garden and on the lakes, and a chill pervades the evening air like never before. This is the time when it's fun to go bob-sledding, skating, skiing or sliding in the snow. How I love to slide down a snow-covered hill in the park on a nice, big sled! Or to go slipping and sliding down an icy patch in our driveway is such fun for me! Yes, even us dogs find the trail a bit slippery right now. But it can only mean fun! Although, I don't think Newman likes it too much. Since it's become so bitterly cold here, he comes running in the house these nights as fast as his legs can carry him! Once it gets dark, he just doesn't seem to want to be out there. But as for me, I just stand outside, wander around, and sniff and smell everything on the ground. I hate to come in. I must admit, I haven't been coming when I'm called, like good little doggies are supposed to. But gee whiz! Everything smells so interesting and looks so inviting outside now! I just hate to have to go back inside...... I find frozen leaves to play with, when I can dig them up. And it's cold fun to lick the ice and snow. I like to bury my nose in it. But my mistress just gets mad and makes me go inside. sigh! The snow is wasted on the people, who don't seem to appreciate it. Valentine's Day is almost here. Now if I only had a Valentine sweetheart! But alas, I think some of my private parts didn't come back with me from that last visit to the vet...... See you next time!
Your Faithful Friend,
Brownie!
