APRIL 2003
OK....I'm finally taking the time to post something instead of going to bed like I ought to do. I am now working at OCP and have been a little busy lately.
4/30/03...OCP's plugging success continues !!!!!! Landing a KING is soon!!!
4/29/03....OCP = Blues and Spanish!!!!! 3-4 lbs each along w/ some smaller ones.
Further South....Cherry Grove lands their 1st KING of the season after 2-3 good days of plugging Spanish. Even further South.. the streak ends at Apache.
4/28/03...OCP..Spanish have arrived !!! Multiple blues and several Spanish caught on plugs.
Further South....Chris couldn't stand it and came out to fish after school.....It paid off. A visiter got the 1st KING of the day, then Cookie then Chris (3 KINGS in 3 days for him).
4/27/03......Plugs = Blues,blues,blues at OCP.
Had a full day off so I went to Apache to visit (Daily King pass $20 a little steep). Fished with Crazy Bob, Mr. B., Chris Barrett and Dave from up North (Maryland?). Blues and Spanish off plugs. Bob had lost a KING before I got there and a shark also. Then not much til 3pm. Chris's 345 GTi took off. 20 minutes later I stick the KING with the 1st gaff and Bob backed me up w/ a 2nd >>>>> KING 37 1/2 lbs!!!!! Not bad for 16 y/o. B had a run but got back half a bait. Bob's took off and it led him up and down the pier before we finally saw what it was....5-6 ft Blacktip...out w/ the knife and good-bye shark...SC (MB,Horry Co.) will arrest ya for sharking.
4/26/03.....OCP had Blues hitting plugs again this morning. Whiting all day and a few keeper Flounder.
LBP had a Flounder 4+ lbs.
The big winner of the day was CHRIS BARRETT fishing at Apache Pier getting the 1st KING MACKEREL off an area pier, it weighed in at 19 lbs.
4/24/03.... Today the bait-sized blues started hitting plugs like crazy. Also the BIG NEWS........OCP LIVE BAIT TANK ON THE TEE IS UP AND RUNNING !!!!!!! MANY THANKS TO DAVE COOPER, COOKIE, and J.R. FOR THEIR EFFORTS IN THIS PROJECT !!!! Big Whiting (over 1 lb) in the suds along w/ some 2-3 lb Black Drum. Shrimp and Bloodworms bait of choice.
4/23/03.....FRED RATLIFF (Reidsville,NC) hits the board w/ the 1st big fish (1st "run" of 2003) a CHOPPER BLUE weighing in at 7.4 lbs. Also newsworthy info.....OCP's teen anglers having been landing at least 1 keeper FLOUNDER for the past 3 days w/ Brandon Cole landing the 1st KEEPER on Monday earning a nice rod/reel combo courtesy of OCP.
LBP has also reported Whiting and Black Drum. No word from Yaupon ????
