THE GRAB BAG (San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner ) (This is a column that I thought I would share with you. It is a favorite of mine from the San Francisco Chronicle and Examiner called the "GRAB BAG" ( ~ L. M. But if she tries it after age 50, most likely she'll succeed. AT least your brain will lose weight as you age. TAKE your turn at analyzing the claim that many people gain and lose weight in accordance with the cycles of the moon... Anything to it? HUMANS aren't the only animals that sneeze, just the only ones that sneeze with their mouths open. AMONG all the affectionate nick-names husbands call their wives. No 1 is "Honey," according to those studious list makers who pick up what name-droppers leave behind. WAS none other than that pioneer medicine man Hippocrates who first put into the record that fat people don't tend to live as long as thin people. A SPIDER can't focus its eyes. If what it sees isn't exactly in range, it has to move closer or farther to get a better look. SOUND of running water makes beavers nervous. They want to dam it evidently. Farm beavers start projects around drain pipes, leaking field faucets, old culverts. WHAT you and I call a "ladybug" is known in Iraq as the "water delivery man's daughter". "TOTAL liberty is total solitude," wrote the sage Madame Dariaux. "THE moment you become attached to another human being, animal or even to an object, you lose a little of your liberty." A praying mantis will attack any small animal life except an ant. IF you are going to own a camel, feed it or it'll eat your tent. Camels do that. (well, I hope you enjoyed that, I always feel just a little smarter after reading The Grab Bag...INQUIRING MINDS ALWAYS WANT TO KNOW :) ) ******************************************************

6.) TAKE A 160 pound man-- ow much does his skeleton weigh?.................29 pound, if typical.

7.) HOW LONG can a hippo walk underwater without coming up for air?.............About six minutes.

8.) HOW MANY of Crayola's 600 colors have been renamed for "politically correct" reasons?.......Three since 1903. In 1958, "Prussian Blue" was renamed "Midnight Blue". In 1962, "Flesh" was renamed "Peach". Recently, "Indian Red" a reference to the East Indian pigment source, was changed to "Chestnut".

9.) HAS LONDON BRIDGE ever really fallen down??...............Never. Several London Bridges have been built since the first in 1170. Wooden houses on them have burned down. Some of them have been torn down. But none ever have fallen....

10.) WHICH PRESIDENT had the middle name of "Finis"?........Will you accept the Confederacy's Jefferson Davis?...If not, why not?....He was the youngest of 10 children, and his father made a point of it in so naming him. His father much admired Thomas Jefferson, hence the first name.
